"good" is rather subjective. Better list your requirements.

A very simple one that I have used is the nc program. It allows you to blast files or anything else from stdin to the remote system. Good enough for the level of testing I did.

Anyway, I asked aunt Google and she suggested this among a few others: http://serverfault.com/questions/364...ator-simulator

Great...so now we'll ask "what research have you done, and what have you found?"

Read the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature. Please don't ask us to look things up for you.

You can Google the web and find various results such as:

http://www.solarwinds.com/engineers-...an-killer.aspx

http://www.windowsnetworking.com/art...ing-tools.html

https://www.paessler.com/load_stress_test

The issues though are what traffic makes the best sense to test on your network and whether or not the endpoints their selfs are also an issue. So you'll really have to asses what your environment is and determine whether or not just general data pump throughput speed testing is sufficient, or if you need to test application oriented performance.
