Tovid Normalize, how it works?

From my understanding, normalizing audio is useful for when you have multiple files with greatly varying volume. My particular problem is that sometimes the audio within one of my movies varies greatly, most commonly, voices are faint, while effects are very loud, would normalize fix this? I know normalize works for multiple files but what about varying volumes within the same file?

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment you can provide.

In this case you should use compression (normalization only modify the level for the full track to a "standard level".)

Sorry, I don't know much Tovid. If you can edit the audio track of a video, then compress the track using Audacity or something similar. But again, I don't know much about video editing. I only know compression can fix the problem you're talking about.
