im currently running gentoo (amd64 arch) and am having some problems with totem/rhythmbox. they are both showing the same symptoms. all files play just fine, however, mp3 dont show proper information. i get unknown for all parts of the info (artist, album, etc.) and the length of the file is messed up (as in it doesnt know how long the song is, so the seek bar gets to the end but the song keeps playing). this is driving me crazy, especially since in rhythmbox, when i view other people's itunes shares, it shows up just fine, its only when i play my local files. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

well i finally figured out what it was. i needed to recompile totem with the mad USE flag.
