Totem playing .avi file displays crazy psychodelic colors

Hi all! Was hoping someone has had this same problem and could help me
out. I'm running CentOS 5.2 64 bit on Dell computers. When any of my
users attempt to play any .avi file, using Totem 2.16.7 via
Applications-->Sound & Video-->Movie Player, they're getting crazy
psychodelic colors showing up instead of what's intended in the .avi
file. I've tried this on many of my machines and tried other .avi files
and get the same results.

What am I missing?? Is there some kind of setting somewhere??

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

-Mark

sounds like you are missing the proper codex for decrypting the avi file. totem wont give the codex to you for free so unless you want to pay try vlc

i dont think it is. but to chec try "yum provides vlc"
otherwise just google vlc player and check out their website. they have a repo for RHEL/CentOS/Fedora.
