totem Movie Player plugins

I'm using Fed 16. Totem does not seem to be able to play much. I have rpm fusion free and nonfree repos enabled. Where can I get all the plugins to play most media? In the past totem offered to look for them itself, but it is not doing that now.

Any tips out there?

You have to actually install the stuff from RPMfusion. Use the Add/remove software program and search for "gstreamer". You need to get gstreamer-ffmpeg, gstreamer-plugins-good, gstreamer-plugins-bad, and gstreamer-plugins-ugly.

Thanks, only the basic gstreamer was installed. I'm just downloading the rest.

Still can't play .flv What would I need for that?

Those plugins should have done the trick. There may be a bug there. The flv files are fine in Fedora 14, and they played in 16 when I tested it. Personally, I always get rid of Totem! Try Gnome-mplayer, VLC, or Xine.

Yeah, I think you're right, unistall. I have had a lot of problems with Fed 16. Even now, with the official release, I get terrible crashes. It seems it is this GPU an ATI 6053 or something. It is a bit new for Linux. I have to use this laptop in class, with an overhead projector. I get seize ups and crashes regularly. If the projector is plugged in, and I mistakenly open a file with Totem, that's it, I can only power off. I can't even open a virtual terminal and shut down cleanly. I have vlc, which works fine.
