I loaded μtorrent. One accesses its API via HTML. I can log on to the server @ http://127.0.0.1/gui/ , but any action I request, such as ?action=getversion or ?action=getsettings ,returns 'invalid request', HTML error 400. As near as I can tell it isn't trying to fetch the torrents to which I have pointed it.

I tried to join μtorrent's forum but I failed the test for robots, which seems to be 1 of 2 in-jokes, or deliberately obscure.

you are using utorrent on slackware?

They don't. The only torrent package in Slackware is for KDE, which I don't use. I don't limit myself to software only in Slackware.

I started using a torrent client 2 years ago in search of 1 file, not available anywise else. I still haven't succeeded. In case there was some shortcoming in my client, I tried others. μtorrent was recommended.

searching for torrent files is best done from your browser, not your torrent client.

The file is available only as a torrent. Curiously a small bit downloaded today, about 440K a week ago. Perhaps had I left it on all of these last 2 years I would have it by now.

well i'm still against utorrent; i can't even open the link because the noscript addon deems this site hazardous.

your last post suggests that there's no seeders for your torrent download. it happens all the time, and is not in any way connected to the client you use.

but whatever, back to post #1:
the 400 error says: "The server cannot or will not process the request due to an apparent client error (e.g., malformed request syntax, too large size, invalid request message framing, or deceptive request routing)."
- which would suggest that the problem is on your computer.

fwiw, i use transmission in the same way (cli daemon, html user interface) and have never encountered a 400 error.
