TOR ?

Is it possible to set up TOR, so that based on the circumstances I can choose to use TOR or not use it?

Define circumstances?
*BTW I'll move this to the Software forum as it is not a Linux Security question.

it is a very well documented option
"torify"

mind you using the tor-bundle ( with CUSTOM SETTINGS!!!! )

Yes. If you want to use tor you can give the command start-tor-browser. If you want to use a normal browser then just give whatever command open the browser of your choice. You get the start-tor-browser executable in the torbrowser-launcher package. At least this is one way to do it.
