tomcat on fedora 2

I upgraded from fedora 1 to 2 as I read in a linux magazine that tomcat 5 is included in fedora 2 distribution and will be installed in the default configuration.

Now, I am not able to find Tomcat in the fedora 2 service page. So either I am missing something important or the magazine was wrong!

I had installed the apache2 + tomcat 5 + mysql in fedora 1 by using mod_jk2 connector/worker properties etc. Do I have to go through the steps again.

Moreover there is no jk2 connector for fedora 2, its available only for fedora 1 at the jakarta site.

What should I do now:

1. Go back to Fedora 1
2. Try connector of Fedora 1, it will work for Fedora 2.
or
3. Stupid, just click the option and Tomcat 5 works with Apache 2 by itself in Fedora 2.

I get it installed when I go for full install.

Now it reads all JSP pages at 80 port.

Hi bumeshrai,

I you sure you have Tomcat 5 installed now? On my Fedora Core 2 DVD I have only Tomcat 4.1.27.

I also had tomcat 4.1.xx version on Fedora 2 CD. After installation I tried to load my earlier JSP/Struts program, but it started giving compilation error.

I read somewhere that the bundled Tomcat runs with a different JVM.

So I reverted back to the time tested procedure of loading the J2SDK, installing the latest Tomcat 5.xx version, then using the JK2 connector and it worked!!!

And, naturally you had to uninstall the bundled Tomcat.
