To Compile my kernel with Local & IO APIC or not?
I have this setup:
ECS K7S5A
AMD Athlon 2200+ (thoroughbred core)
IDE/ATAPI DVD-RW/CDRW & DVD ROM Drives (2 drives)
maxtor 7200 rpm uata133 hard drive (motherboard's controller is udma100)
sb live (emu10k1)
nvidia geforce 3
A. What is Local APIC support?
B. What is IO-APIC support?
C. What is Unsynced TSC Support?
D. Do I need to compile any of these in my kernel?
E. If I don't, who does?
PS.:
With my current kernel cat /var/log/dmesg | grep APIC reveals:
ACPI: RSDP (v000 AMI ) @ 0x000fa310
ACPI: RSDT (v001 AMIINT SiS735XX 0x00001000 MSFT 0x0100000b) @ 0x1fff0000
ACPI: FADT (v001 AMIINT SiS735XX 0x00001000 MSFT 0x0100000b) @ 0x1fff0030
ACPI: DSDT (v001 SiS 735 0x00000100 MSFT 0x0100000d) @ 0x00000000
Local APIC disabled by BIOS -- reenabling.
Found and enabled local APIC!
