Tme emulator problem
Hi,
I am experimenting with the tme emulator

Code:

## power up the machine:
##
# uncomment this line to automatically power up the machine when
# tmesh starts:
#
command board0 power up
But when I start the machine, I get bad configuration checksum and power-on selftest failed for the nvram?
Why?
Thanks

according to those instructions
Quote:
1) Find a reasonably fast machine to be the host. A 500MHz Pentium III seems to give performance close to a SPARCstation 2.
|
are you using a antique PIII computer ( think windows 98)
Quote:
2) Follow all of the instructions for getting, building, and installing tme found under http://csail.mit.edu/~fredette/tme/. If you want the emulated SPARCstation 2 to have network access, be sure to follow the instructions about enabling tme to access the network.

did that work ?
do you have them
from: "Making the machine-specific data"
did you edit this for YOUR environment ????
and what step is causing problems ?
from the page you posted there are 5 steps in "Making the machine-specific data"
then from "Installing NetBSD 3.1"
??? netBSD 3.1 ?????????
man that is OLD!!!!
NetBSD 6.1.4 is the current
so did this antique version even install ?

No, it didn't work.
The application always complaining "checksum error" and "replacing nvram"
I use
% dd if=/dev/zero bs=1 count=2008 of=my-sun4c-nvram.bin
% tme-sun-idprom SS2 8:0:20:20:20:20 >> my-sun4c-nvram.bin
But the nvram is always faulty.
But when I swap to NetBSD, it installs
Don't know why?
Thanks
Jack
