Tivo Dekstop on Linux?

I downloaded the free version Tivo Deskstop and it seemed to install OK using Crossover Office (Professional) but will not connect with our Dual Tuner Tivo. I can ping the Tivo from my linux desktop so I believe the hardware is working OK. I tried Galleon for Tivo but having problems with that, even the zip file is giving me errors and it won't run once unzipped.

Has anyone been able to access their Tivo from Linux without actually hacking the Tivo software, (as I really don't want to go that route) ? I am using the RJ 45 port on the Tivo wired to a linksys card in the computer, I am not the wireless adapter.

oh - I am using Suse 10.1, thanks in advance

Update

I could not get Tivo Desktop to work but found I could just log on to the Tivo using Firefox and download the recordings from the Tivo http server.

https : //tivo:insert media access key number here @ your tivo ip address here

or

log in at https : // your tivo address

Firefox will give login box

name: tivo
password: your media access key

So far I have not found anything that runs on my Suse 10.1 system that will allow me to play the .tivo file. I tried a few windows programs to convert the .tivo to mpeg but so far no luck.

Try this link, it is for Mac OS X, but should apply to linux with a bit of tweaking!

Edit: Insert the link!

Thanks, but if you look at it you will see it requires windows, which I don't have and do not wish to purchase.Windows Media Play 6.5 works with CXoffice, but not 10. The "Direct Show Dump" program didn't work without .net. It's basically requires a Windows setup. If I was on broadband I would have spent more time trying other things but without a widows system to first convert the files, it didn't look too promising. I actually found a windows decoder that might have worked to convert the .tivo files using WMP, but couldn't get it to work with 6.5.

from the page:

"I'm putting this page together to show you an easy way to convert those .tivo files into MPEG-2 files. While it's straightforward, it still involves Windows XP - running inside of Virtual PC (VPC). If you don't have VPC, you won't be able to do this."

Thanks again, the page you found was different than the others I found, one of these times the right one may be found.
