TinyDNS problems

I have a website that's registered and a virtual server with a hosting company. They've given me 6 ips. All 6 work. I have setup TinyDNS. We have tested it and it works ok with dig @12.12.12.12 ns1.mydomain.com both locally on the box and remotely.

I also had the host setup reverse zone on their servers (so they say as it's a virtual server).

One the strange things is when I put in ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com in registrar I get an error ERROR: Errors modifying nameservers: nRRPResponseCode 541. They don't seem to be of much help since we used that company previously for hosting. It seems like it's verifying it can resolve that ns1.mydomain.com, but how can I set ns when it's not setup yet. Any ideas?
