Thunderbird - Says profile is in use, when it is not!
Dear All,
I have a thunderbird 1.02 installation that is now refusing to start one
profile because it says that the chosen profile is in use!
How do I change this?
I have removed the lockfile from /home/lo/thunderbird/default
but it is insisting!
Please help, or my Mum will kill me!
Riddick

Run
Code:
ps aux | grep thunderbird
This will allow you to see if there are any instances of Thunderbird still running, and then you can quit them using
Code:
kill processIDNumber
I hope this helps, and I am sure your mum wont kill you

Look for a lock file in the thunderbird directory and delete it.
find ~/.thunderbird -name "*lock*" -print

Sometimes when I have a problem starting a program I will start it from an xterm. This way I get more feedback and error reporting. Many times this helps to solve the problem.
