thunderbird messages


Hi, I just downloaded thunderbird on my linux box but it doesnt download all the existing email I have in my account? i KNOW there is email in there so how can I download the existing emails that I have?

Do you have Thunderbird configured correctly to access your account? IE, is it configured correctly for you POP3 server?

yes I can send and receive mail, but only if it is new......I want to download all existing email

Are you sure the e-mail is not deleted? Most e-mail reading programs by default delete the e-mail after downloading it from the server. That is to ensure that the mailbox does not breach the quota. If you have a way to login to the server via webmail, see if there is anything in the inbox.
Otherwise, thunderbird should download everything from the inbox, at least it did that for me.

go to yahoo webmail and click all your e-mails then change then as not readed then you can download them whit thunderbird
