thunderbird installation


Hi,
I just dowloaded thunderbird-1.5.tar.gz..and untarred it and unzipped
it..after going into the untarred directory I coudnt understand how to
start thunderbird mail client
if i try to run the shell file 'thunderbird' i get the error

#./thunderbird
./thunderbird-bin: error while loading shared libraries:
libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

any help will be greatly appreciated

Seems like a dependency issue. It might be easiest to just install thunderbird using a package manager. Exactly how to do that depends on your distro, thus pljvaldez's question.

im using RHEL4.....i could use the rpms from somewhere i guess, but then rpms dont really tell you where the software libraries are going to be copied

I know fedora has a package manager (yum I think), does RHEL not use that too? If not I guess the next step is to try to track down an rpm for libstdc++
