I have neither an antivirus program nor a antispare ware.

This speaks for killing LINUX Mint 17 on my computer and have it newly installed.Right?

good to know that TB is no menace.

I decided to reinstall Linux mint. Would this solve my problems ? Except saved e-mails and items in the trash bin? What version of linux mint should I go for?

I did reinstall Linux Mint. So far so good. Thank you for your advice.
