Thunderbird: IMAP Archive?
I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle my personal email... I use Thunderbird as my email client, and to this point I've been using POP3 to retrieve mail because I have a LOT (would overflow my mail quota) of email. I'd like to be able to better access my e-mail by using IMAP, so I was wondering if there's some way I can "archive" email from IMAP in Thunderbird so I can keep the copies without having them on the server forever?

For example, I'd like to keep older archives on my desktop and be able to access "current" email from both my desktop and laptop so both systems have copies of all emails (sent, etc.)

You can create a local folder and store everything there.

File -> New -> Folder
and choose local folder

You can then manually copy the files into your local folder.

You can make this easier by adding the Buttons! Thunderbird extension, which allows you to add a button that will archive a folder to your local folder.
