Thunderbird does not follow when link clicked

My Thunderbird does not do any thing when I click on the link. I have now to copy the link and go to Firefox to follow it.

I have reinstalled the Thunderbird and it still does not follow the link.

This is on my desktop but it works fine on my laptop.

It used to work on my desktop but hasn't worked for a couple of months now.

Anyone know how to fix this?

What link? A link in an email? Does it have an http(s):// part?

Is this an issue with every link?

Is the email in HTML format?

Is Firefox set as the default browser?

Just some things to look at....

The answer is No and it is all because I added Google Chrome it took the default of Firefox away and had not noticed it was no longer my default browser.

I have made it the default and it now works.

Thanks for your great help.

@ bscho:-

Let me get this straight. Am I to assume that you've received an e-mail via Thunderbird, which contains a website link ( http, https, whatever)? And that you want to click on that link and have Firefox automatically open at that web address, yes?

Basically, as things stand at present (certainly with TBird 60), you've got to create a new config entry. In T-Bird, do the following:-

Open 'Preferences' via the Menu 'hamburger' symbol (top right).

Then, Advanced->General tab->Click the Config Editor button, bottom right (this is equivalent to about:config in Firefox). Click thru the 'Here be dragons!' bit.

Right-click the blank area just to the right of the left-hand column header, 'Preference Name'. Select 'New', and choose 'Boolean'. In the wee window that appears, enter the new preference name:-

Code:

network.protocol-handler.app.http
Click 'OK'. Next, select the boolean value; in this case, you want 'True'. Okay this, then you can close everything up.

This will take effect immediately. (I've had to do this myself very recently, which is why it's still fresh in my mind.)

Hope that helps.

Mike. ;)
