Thunderbird cannot start
Hi folks,
RH9 Thunderbird. While I was reading emails immediately after their download from ISP mail server, the machine automatically rebooted. Thereafter the machine could not boot for unknown cause. After booting the machine with rescue diskette and 'fsck /dev/hdeX' all partitions then the machine revives. But 'thunderbird' could not start as USER (I have not install it as ROOT). Kindly shed me some light how to fix this problem. Thanks in advance. B.R. satimis |
i read somewhere that for best performance, all software shud be installed as root.

Thanks for your response. Sorry, I have not explained clear in my first posting. I installed ThunderBird at /usr/local/Thunderbird I only setup it to work as USER, because most unlikely I will not send emails as ROOT. I found the problem but without a solution. It is a file named 'XUL.mfasl' created at /home/satimis/.thunderbird/default/zoe216nc.slt/XUL.mfasl on starting 'Thunderbird'. I met this problem several months before. This file was created after starting "Thunderbird" therefore I could not start it the second time. I could not recall how to fix it. But this time I even can't start it the first time. B.R. satimis |
