Thunderbird .4 smtp authentication

I was using Thunderbird .3 email just fine. Last night I decided to download the binary for .4. I uncompressed it in a seperate directory. It retrieves email okay. When I went to send it said there is a problem with the smtp server.

Thing is: it was the same settings in my .thunderbird folder. I rm -rf .thunderbird. No good. Switched back to .3. No good. Evolution works fine.

Any ideas?

"Switched back to .3. No good."

My guess is that .4 messed up your Thunderbird configuration file. Try renaming the configuration file to save it and then recreating the .3 configuration file again.

As I said I rm -rf .thunderbird. Did it when switching to .4 and also back to .3 That wiped out all my configurations and recreated new ones.
