Thunderbird 0.3 and Slack 9
Just tried installing it, and I got this:
thunderbird/thunderbird-bin: /lib/libpthread.so.0: version `GLIBC_2.3.2' not found (required by /opt/thunderbird-0.3/thunderbird/libnspr4.so) I'm trying to run the version with GTK2/XFT btw... has anyone seen or worked around this without compiling from source? TIA B. |
What Version of Glibc do you have?
|
2.3.1-i386-3... the distribution version from the first slack 9.0 release
|
why not just use the precompiled binary?
|
that is precisely what I am trying to do... the problem happens when running the binary. BTW the binary 0.1 distribution works great.

as Baldorg suggested, the answer is simple. upgrade your glibc to the required version. :) |
ok... did it... feel like a goof for even asking... apologies for wasting LQ's disk space and your time. And 0.3 didn't even solve the stupid layout prob I was hoping to fix.
Thanks everyone B. |
i've the right version of glibc needed
* sys-libs/glibc Latest version available: 2.3.2-r1 Latest version installed: 2.3.2-r1 Size of downloaded files: 13,417 kB but it doesn't work anyway and i get the same exact error message. i've slackware 9.1 any other idea? thanks ciao otted |
