Do you use Debian with xfce?

If so, why are you downloading? Just install it from the repositories with apt-get/aptitude or the graphical installer. That is, if its not already installed.

Example with aptitude:

Code:
sudo aptitude install thunar-volman
BTW "architecture" is i386 (or x86) for 32-bit, amd64 (or just 64) for 64-bit installations (there are some others like sparc, ppc but you probably dont need that).
Most likely you have 32-bit, but you can find out by typing in a terminal:

Code:
uname -r
If it has 686 or i386 in it, you have 32-bit version. If it has amd64 in it, you have 64-bit installation.

From the package description:

"The Thunar Volume Manager is an extension for the Thunar file manager, which enables automatic management of removable drives and media."

Which 'file manager' are you referring to? Xfce has thunar by default. Thunar-volman adds an extra configuration window, accesible from a link in the edit-preferences-advanced menu by ticking the "enable volume management" and clicking on the "configure" link.
