This is Eterm- how to fix or over ride default fonts?

this image is showing speedometer, within the image one can notice the fonts not showing properly.. in the examples of this program I have seen there is suppose to be a line where this garb font char is showing.

where it is showing the 32Kb/s etc. along with some of the area of the graph lines too.

I've been messing with the .Xdefaults, and created user.cfg file.

LANG settings
Code:
export | grep LANG
declare -x LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
Xdefaults - showing just for Eterm.
Code:
Eterm*font:*-*-fixed-medium-r-normal--*-140-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
Eterm*boldFont:*-*-fixed-bold-r-normal--*-*-140-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
user.cfg I just created per internet man page kept in ~/Eterm
Code:
 --font -xos4-terminus-medium-r-normal--*-*-200-*-*-*-iso8859-1
Nothing seems to effect the fonts. I am using theme for it ran through i3 wm. within that themes setting there is not a setting for fonts. But on the ETerm itself in the drop down menu it has setting that will change the the font. ie. font 1 - font 2 - font 3 - font 4.

this just changes the size of the font when selected with the use of this code within the menus.cfg -

Code:
begin menu
  title Font
  begin menuitem
    text "Normal"
    action string "\e]50;#"
  end
  begin menuitem
    text "Larger"
    action string "\e]50;#+"
  end
  begin menuitem
    text "Smaller"
    action string "\e]50;#-"
  end
  -
  begin menuitem
    text "Font 1"
    action string "\e]50;#1"
  end
  begin menuitem
    text "Font 2"
    action string "\e]50;#2"
  end
  begin menuitem
    text "Font 3"
    action string "\e]50;#3"
  end
  begin menuitem
    text "Font 4"
    action string "\e]50;#4"
  end
end
The only actual font setting that I can find within the controling files of the theme is just for the menu font.
Code:
begin button_bar
  font "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--10-100-75-75-p-56-iso8859-1"
....

any one?

if it just turns out that I am missing an installed font. then please share what that one is. to save me from installing majors amounts of fonts until I get a hit.

thanks
