themes in RH8

I am currently using RH8 with KDE 3.0. I tried installing themes from and (the .tar.gz and .tar files) The error says I it does not contain a valid theme or themerc.file. . the install instructions are very vague I am a linux newbie. any help i would really appreciate it. thanks.

u probably have to extract the archive and compile it. the kde themes may not come in neat little packages, like for example, xmms skins.

to extract and compile, from command line:

1. tar zxvf nameoftheme.tar.gz
2. cd nameoftheme
3. ./configure
4. make
5. su
(enter root password)
6. make install
7. exit

then check the kde control panel and see if the theme was installed.
