the zone
is there any way to play on the zone using linux? i know that it requires IE, but i can't find any way to get it for linux. i've used konquerer to send my browser id as IE, but that doesn't work either. is there anything i can do?

wow, no one knows? that's amazing
|
What do you mean by the zone ?? A internet address would help us out !
|
I think he means MSN's Gaming Zone:
The Zone I'm sure he's getting this: Wrong Browser It does say you can still use it without upgrading your browser, but I couldn't sign in either using Netscape 7. |
Exigent, you barely gave but a few hours for anyone to answer.
You can put IE on Linux. I believe you will have to hunt for 3.0 or so because the newer ones won't work well. Also in Opera you can have it be "identified" as IE in the prefs. Cool |

It won't work people. You have to be running Windows as well. Probably the only way to do this is run Windows within Linux under an emulation like VMware or Win4Lin. And MasterC, unless your talking about a IE port to Linux, that doesn't exist, there was a port for Solaris but not Linux, and clearly by the page that states this as TiltJ pointed out, you have to have IE 4.0 or greater, as 3.0 won't even work. |
well that sucks. thanks for the info.
sorry about being so hasty, but you must admit it elicited alot of comments quickly :) |
Cool, thanks tricky for the info. In a search to find IE, I came across this, figured you guys would like to see it:
It's the manpage for IE: man ie :D |
ya, i saw that too. i'd say it's pretty accurate
|
I got the page to load using Opera 6.01 lying its pants off as IE 5.x
Of course Opera is going to eat it on a lot of flash, some java... I tried to get to solitaire and it just sat their with "loading" scrolling accross the screen until I got bored and closed the window. Cheers, Finegan |
ya, even if you lie with your browser id. you still can't play because the software download isn't compliant. is there maybe a clone of IE?

oh. how about a windows emulator? is there one that would work?
|
As mentioned before, either VMware or win4lin but is it really worth playing in "The Zone" whatever it is? I think reading man pages could be equally entertaining. :D

games.yahoo.com,
good alternative. They don't add nearly as many games as often as the zone does, but once you get java flash working, usually has to be on Mozilla, you're goo to play chess! And any of the other... couple hundred or so there. Cheers, Finegan |
