Weird, my sound just stopped working on Debian (testing) today too. Been driving me crazy. I did do a dist-upgrade recently, however I'm not sure that's what did it: My sound was working fine last night but my last upgrade (followed immediately by a manual reboot) was a day or two before that.

Code:

02:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
I'll try rebooting again (just for the F of it) and also a dist-upgrade again, but I'm in the middle of some stuff ATM, so I can't try it right this moment.

Hmm, no difference

I did notice that the sound works fine if I use the headphone jack instead of the built-in speakers (it's a laptop). However, it's *not* a hardware issue because the built-in speakers magically work fine when I boot into Windows.

And yea, I've been all through all the system settings, and no matter what, I'm just no longer getting any sound out the built-in speakers while booted into debian.

@kzaarouri: Does this seem to be true for you as well, or could we be seeing two separate issues?
