the problem after install software

i face a problem that i don't know how to use a software easily after install it. In detail, after i install Adobe Reader ,i can only run it base command,change diretory to /usr/local/Adobe/Acrobat/bin ,and then run acroread.although i can use it to read pdf document,but it's too inconvenient!
and the same problem happen while i use RealPlayer!!!has any easy way to use them ??? for an example ,how to add a shortcut on desktop or in the start menu ???

it depends on the windows manager you are using. If you are running KDE, right click on the start bar and go to menu editor. Add in the program you want to use by making the the command /usr/local/Adobe/Acrobat/bin/programname. Once it's in the menu, you can configure KDE to use that program when you open up a .pdf file.
