How do I make linux look all snazzy with the flashing rectangle for a cursor at the shell and the cool text and stuff? I'm running Linux From Scratch, and the text all looks like it's out of DOS.
bash and xterm are highly configurable. Try:
man bash
man xterm
to get explanations of all of the possible parameters. Then configure bash and xterm by trial and error until you get THE look.
It's not the shell. My text is displayed DOS-like. I want it to be displayed Linux like. Just boot any non-LFS Linux distro to a shell, then boot DOS to see what I mean.
I'm good. Just had to change my Lilo params to vga=794. (the video mode code for 1024x768 with 16,000,000 colors) It now boots with cool Linux text, cursor, and penguin logo.
I just installed lilo with the gfx patch which now loads nice color background screens for lilo with adjustable menu positions. But I'd also like to the Fonts and I don't know how. Anyone who can help me?
