It is routine to boot any flavour of Windows from GRUB. The only real issue is that MS refuse to recognise that other OS's may be pre-installed on any system their OS is being installed on. So the windows bootloader will overwrite GRUB/LILO. Reinstalling GRUB/LILO after a windows install is also routine. That there are many other bootloaders is besides the point. |
This is almost a spam attack - seems any post that mentions grub and/or lilo has had this diatribe posted. Regardless of whether it would be helpful or not.
Seems tinybit wants the world to recognise his/her efforts. Maybe it'll help, maybe not - but in my case, code that is this new would only get tried on a test box I don't care about. |
Thank you all for the replies.
I needn't beg someone to use the software. This grub4dos is GPL, and I cannot benefit from it. I don't care whether someone would use it. I think, only Microsoft would hate this software. Yes, LILO and GRUB is good enough. GRUB4DOS is based on GRUB. But GRUB4DOS has done much more. I have worked on this for 3 years, and I think it is the right time to introduce it to people who does not know it. |
Fair enough - I was wondering whether this was the grub4dos I had seen about 12 months ago.
Never used it as I find grub does all I need. Perhaps you should consider putting something like your post above on a doco page on your project site, and just a line or two to offer it as an option in threads on fora like LQ. |
Thank you again, syg00.
This is the first and last time I use "spam-attack" to extend my software. I hope someday it become popular. GRUB for DOS - It is not only for DOS. |
I only "spam-attack" LQ. I am not interested in any other forums.

> No they don't! (Please qualify this statement.)
Simon Bridge: I am very sorry for my poor English. Maybe I should say: Windows always conflicts with GRUB and LILO. ----------- Maybe my word is garbage, but GRUB4DOS is not. Isn't that true? |
