the gimp - moving layers
maybe this is a question too easy - didn't find the answer with a quick google - but how do i move layers in gimp? especially newly written text? i was never able to move text (that sucks) but if i jump on alt, ctrl and space like a moron, eventually a cross appears which lets me move a layer... but i do not see a system behind that... :D
i frequently used corel photoshop before, downloaded the free version 9 for linux, too, but after installing it simply won't work. regards ungua edit: those basic things like drawing squares appears to be hidden, too. i just read how to draw a line but forgot it again. why isn't there a tool for that...? |
This will provide the answers you need.

First, bring up the layers "toolbar" by hitting Control-L (thats a lower case L). Then you can add a new layer if you need to. Second, select the layer you want to move in the layers toolbar. Third, choose the"Move Layers and Selections" on the main toolbar (it is a little crossroads looking things with arrows pointing in all 4 directions. Now you should be able to simply click and drag the layer you chose.
Good luck. |
