the commands $! and &!

Hi
Do the commands $! and/or &! mean anything in linux?

This sort of thing is very hard to search for on google I suppose because it filters such short strings out of the search.

In perl $! means get the last error, i.e

mkdir("this/this") || die($!)

In Bash $! is the PID of the last job run in background. &! means anything. Where have you found the last one? Can you provide some example?
