the command for run command

This is kinda embarassing, but I need to know what the command is... for run command. The window that pops up with a text input for typing and executing commands, aka run command, must have a command that calls it. Does anyone know it? I've tried googling this, but as you can imagine, it doesn't google very well.

I assume you're referring to the KDE KMenu selection "Run Command". There is a keyboard shortcut for it: alt-F2. I did a quick google for kmenu "run command", but don't have the time to go searching through the hits for you. Interestingly, there is a patch for kmenu to remove the "Run Command" menu item when running your computer as a kiosk.

If you're writing a bash script, you simply call the name of the executable file from the script; you don't need the "Run Command" dialog.

Remember, if you're calling an executable file, specify its full path (or use the ./ path to denote the current working directory). If the file has not been set executable, you may need to do (as root or sudo): chmod +x filename
