Question The best utility to do this?

I want to host a website on a Linux server, and I want the website to run a serverside script once every 30 minutes within the server instead of a visitor coming to my website

Is cron the best utility for this?

If you have control of the server (that is, if it's a VPS or a dedicated server), probably yes.

If it's shared hosting, consult your hosting provider.
