That X Thing wont install in 8.1 mandrake
When i try to install mandrake 8.1 on my computer it gets down to the last item on the installer and when i chose the default monitor choice it comes up with a black screen saying there is no such device, I've tried two or three of the monitor choices, and my gateway EV700 just won't work. Its a computer thats about 3 months old, so its not THAt new.
HELP!!!! :newbie: |
You have three choices, your gateway moniter would be a re-badged something and you can try and find out what exactly it is or you can skip that part of the install and do it manually after your post install reboot or you can try as many of the options for moniters and see if one works, the last option wouldn't be one that I would choose as you could run the risk of toasting your moniter.

specifications for the EV700 monitor. hope it helps! |
Try selecting a generic VGA or SVGA monitor if it gives you the option. If not, you can, as Aussie said, always go back and tweak it later.
Not that this helps right now, but the EV700 should work; I was using one when I installed Mandrake 8.0 and it picked it up just fine. BTW, the specs given in the link above do match what's listed in my EV700 manual. |
