texteditor

is there a linux texteditor that will self detect the java sdk already installed on my computer and auto configure like textpad does in windows?

Hi AaronUFC!!!

I doubt it. However, there's a good text editor for Java, made also in Java, which works similar to TextPad. But you still have to tell the editor where you've installed sdk. It should not take more then 10s to do so:

http://drjava.sourceforge.net/

When you feel comfortable enough with Java, to design gui's and other stuff, netbeans is a great free product from Suns. It can be downloaded from Sun as bundled with sdk or not. If you choose the bundle version, it will also install and detect sdk for you.

Regards!
