text-only X config program

is their a text-only configuration tool for X with redhat9. redhat9 does not have xf86config, or Xconfigurator. The only program I can find is redhat-config-xfree86 , but this program is graphical.

If X is installed it should have xf86config usually found in /usr/X11R6/bin or in /etc/X11/bin

Try searching for it as it might not just be in your default path, etc.

it is not there, I assumed all linux versions had it installed. I tried whereis xf86config, and I manually checked the locations that you gave me, it is not installed. I found on google that older versions of redhat used Xconfigurator is a text-only configuration tool ,but not redhat9. This is rediculous, that you need X working to configure X.

You can also try using XFree86 -configure then or also in Redhat 9 you can use redhat-config-xfree86
