Text display not in CO80 mode after 2.6.12 kernel install in runlevel 3?

Hi

I recently upgraded FC3 's kernel from 2.6.9 to 2.6.12 - however in RL 3 the 2.6.12 kernel's textmode is all screwed up - it seems to be in some weird text mode that is too "long" for the display. After doing clear in a terminal in text mode you must press Enter a few times to see the cursor and prompt. Everything is also jammed into the center part of the screen.

How can I make a 2.6.12 kernel use normal, strait CO80 textmode in runlevel 3?

Thanks!

if you're using LILO then you add the line vga=normal to near the top of the /etc/lilo.conf file. If you're using grub then I can't help you.

SOLVED

Hi

Thanks for the reply I solved this by omitting VESA support for VGA console in Xconfig and recompiling the kernel - now I have the CO80 mode I know and love without having to fiddle with kernel parameters.
