Text-console based IRC ?

I'd like my daughter to be able to use her Braille-terminal on a text based linux box.
I've got a computer with VectorLinux setup with Brltty ( braille-software ), Links ( text-based-browser ) and Mutt ( mail ).
The Final thing I'm looking for is an simple IRC program she could use in text-modus.
Any sugestions ?

xchat also has a text version, xchat-text oddly enough

It is quiete confusing though, Are you sure BitchX works outside X ?

Any link for xchat ?
