Terminal Services Client

I have been running Linux on my laptop for some time now and I have a question for all the network admins out there. I too am a network admin and a contractor. I have had to keep XP on my laptop because of one application i use on a regular basis. Terminal Services client. Is there a suitable replacemant for linux?? If I could find one I would sure dump XP all together. I never boot into it for anything else. It would sure be nice to get that Harddrive space back. Thanks in advance. By the way a client was most impressed when I started my laptop up, again, on their network to distribute a fix for NetSky and klez.

I assume you mean a client for connecting via RDP? Check out rdesktop:
http://www.rdesktop.org

If you are using citrix then:
http://www.citrix.com

If you are using VNC then:

That was quick!!! Thanks David. Thats exactly what I'm looking for. Its a shme I updated My MCSE last year I hardly ever use windows except when I'm at a clients site. Oh well! I guess we have to work though. Folks want windows "experts" so I stay current. It puts food on the table! Although its nice to replace an ailing windows box with a shiny new linux server when I can.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I try to stick to linux at work then just use a citrix connection to an NT4 Metaframe server if I need windows (usually only to test websites with ie).

I assume this means that it used to work?

Does your login work ok from another client machine? If so have you changed any firewall rules since the problem started?

Furthur investigating the problem, I discovered it was the terminal liscensing manager on the domain controller.

Reinstalling terminal services resolved the problem,

the best thing about rdesktop is that it is faster then the native TS client provided via M$. i use it when ever i have to take care of customer, and i have it setup on my PoS (point of sale) computer here at my office.

im running QuickBooks pro 2002 on a win2k server and just use TS to login and access it remote. i run RH9 on my PoS system and it runs so much faster now then when i had win2k pro on it.

and rdesktop connects and responds much faster with almost no lag compaired to TSclient form win2k pro.
