Smile Terminal commands for installing software

I just went through all the threads in the Forum software, and have a feeling as I am a newbie that I am missing something in the manuals??
I can find all kinds of info on installing software via the Package Manager. What are the commands to install software that is not in the Package Manager. Such as Adobe and an update for the printer driver.

Look around the website from which you download a package. There may be instructions on how to install the package on various systems depending on the package management software used by those systems.

The package may need to be unpacked before installing. In that case, look for an INSTALL or README file which should have installation instructions.

Have you got the extra repositories enabled, like RPMfusion? A lot of things you need, like media codecs, are not provided by Fedora. Have a look here:
http://www.fedoraforum.org/?view=fedora_setup

Things like the flash plugin from Adobe are easy enough. If you have to download an rpm file for something, you can use
su -c "yum install ~/Downloads/watsit.rpm"
and it will get installed, with any dependencies taken care of.
