tensorflow

I'd like to run tensorflow(-gpu) on debian stable. I've installed the nvidia docker, as per: https://www.tensorflow.org/install/docker

but get this error:
Quote:
"F tensorflow/core/platform/cpu_feature_guard.cc:37] The TensorFlow library was compiled to use AVX instructions, but these aren't available on your machine."
would like to try 'research/object_detection' from github.

BTW, should I use python3 ?

thanks.

that's just warning message, for people with extra hardware instructions.
my CPU is perhaps too old for newer versions of tensorflow.
anything above v1.5 spits "Illegal instruction", and newest one (v1.12) complains about AVX instructions.

hopefully my GPU (GTX 960) isn't too old.

edit:
If only I read this:
Quote:
"Hardware requirements
Starting with TensorFlow 1.6, binaries use AVX instructions which may not run on older CPUs.
Read the GPU support guide to set up a CUDAŽ-enabled GPU card on Ubuntu or Windows."
before. it would have saved me some time.
