.tar.gz to RPM. HOW?????


Everybody told me not to install directly from source, i should create a rpm, but i don't know how.
Can anybody tell me???

Use checkinstall. With checkinstall the sequence of commands to compile a tarball becomes:
./configure
make
checkinstall

checkinstall creates a rpm package and you install the rpm package.

I've read what "jailbait" told me, but after i read it i have one last question; in the page refers to slackware and debian packages, so work for suse to?????

Yes. Checkinstall will create rpm packages which is what SuSE uses.

With Checkinstall you can select which sort of package you want to create. It'll ask you if you want to create a Debian package, Slackware tgz package, or an RPM. Simply select RPM and you'll be all set! It's a really nice utility
