tape device busy


When I run the tar to backup file to the tape drive , it pop the device busy , except reboot the server , how to resume it normal ? thx.

This problem may be caused by several reasons. Make sure you have no sessions using the tape device's directory. Also if you have anything that may be writing to the device (i.e. cron job, script, etc.) make sure the process is stoped/disabled. Finally try doing the backup as root if you haven't attempted this already.
