System Sound Works, but Nothing Else

Hello,

I'm having trouble configuring my sound using Kubuntu 6.06 on a Gateway 200ARC. Here is the lspci output for the laptop:
Code:

0000:02:03.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ac)
0000:02:03.1 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ac)
0000:02:03.2 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C552 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 04)
0000:02:07.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter (rev 04)
0000:02:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB PRO/100 VE (MOB) Ethernet Controller (rev 81)
I'm pretty sure you don't but one line of that, but I'll throw it in anyway.

To make a long story short, my internal sound card broke so I've attached a Creative Labs MP3+ USB card. When Kubuntu first turns on/logs in I can hear the system sound, but I can't hear the sound from KsCD or Flash plugin for Firefox.

I saw a similar thread earlier that suggested I turn off the internal sound card via the BIOS, but my BIOS has no such option. I can only diable the internal LAN. Using KMix, I can select the MP3+ as the device and the correct kernel module is loaded. I'm not sure what else I need to set, so if you have any advice it would help tremendously.

Thanks,

~Justin

Are KsCD and Flash the only programs you can't hear sound from? If so not much to worry about, a lot of users have trouble listening to audio CDs, I've honestly never tried so you'll need to search around for an answer to that and with Flash, it uses an older sound API. Try running Firefox like this and see if you have a win:
Code:
aoss firefox

I'm not familiar with "aoss" and my system does not have that command. Could you please explain?

It pipes OSS sound through ALSA, try installing the alsa-oss package.
