system-config-packages in FC 3
Scenario:
I installed FC3 from multiple CDs. Only thing is, this is my first time really "getting to know" Linux, so I find that I'm doing a lot of installing of alternate packages. Now, I have a DVD from Linux Format magazine with a full FC3 distro on it. Question: Is there any way, without copying all of the RPMS to my hard drive (limited space) to change system-config-packages so that it looks at the DVD instead? I'm willing to carry around one disc, not three. Plus, the 3-disc scenario gave me lots of problems last time I used it (insert disc 1, 3, 2, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, 1... that kinda thing). There is a file in the called installconfig (I believe), but I don't know how I could configure it. Any help would be really appreciated. QuatMosk |
When system-config-packages ask for you to insert the CD and you insert the DVD it does not find the appropriate RPM's?

Ya know, I never tried. Duh. I just assumed this would be like Windows, where it keeps track of what type/size of media you used to install. I'll give it a try, and see if it works. I don't think it will, but it's worth a shot.

Let us know if it works. I'm pretty sure it does.
