(syslog server) Need a app to pull and make sense of logs

I was looking into to Splunk but I'm not liking it at all

I'm looking for something that I can automatically pull logs from Windows (or Linux) machines from the Even Viewers, SMTP logs, etc and parse them into a well designed interface/report system.

Thanks.
