synaptic problems

Whenever I try to run Synaptic on FC4 in Gnome I get this

[root@localhost ravin]# synaptic
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

(synaptic:3019): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
[root@localhost ravin]#

Anyone know the problem?

Thank you

Try opening Synaptic as user and not as root.
