Scanner solution

I'm posting this here because I don't know where else to put it. Spent lots of time reading the scanner problems, got completely confused. Then I stumbled across something called scangearmp, strictly for Canon. Downloaded it, extracted it, ran it in terminal as test and it worked like a charm! Created a launcher, moved it to panel and I'm a happy camper. FYI, if I understand it right, this works for any of the Pixma 2500 and 5200 series printer/copier/scanner combos. Start to finish--10 minutes.

Glad you got it resolved!
