Synaptic hates my Mandrake

When I had apt-get and Synaptic in FC1 (Fedora Core 1), it flew and was aweomse and quick. Now, after using urpmi for a while, I began to miss my Synaptic, so I nabbed apt-get and synaptic. But now there's something "wrong."

Synaptic crawllllssss.... I mean it, too! It is slow as slow can be. You can almost cound to 45 before it does anything. (By that I mean any actions: Opening, clicking a button, closing, downloading, etc)

I know Mandrake likes URPMI more than apt-get, but what's up with the decrease in speed?
