synaptic could not connect to localhost:4001

having trouble with synaptic...wont connect to local host:4001

i was fiddlin around with anon-proxy and changed some settings in my network proxy file...after that synaptic will not apply upgrades etc account wont connect to local host ...see pasted commet at top of post...

i have since uninstalled anon-proxy

It looks like somehow your system thinks you're using a proxy server. Follow this thread and see if you can disable that settings.
